Opening Feb. 11, 2027, in Oklahoma Contemporary’s Eleanor Kirkpatrick Main Gallery, Wayne Coyne: Happily One Freak offers a look into the world of The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne. Happily One Freak explores Coyne’s artistic career beyond music, presenting his extensive visual and conceptual work, including original artworks created for The Flaming Lips, rare and never-before-seen ephemera and large-scale interactive installations. This is the first retrospective exhibition for Coyne, who was raised in Oklahoma City and still calls it home.

I AM AN EYE I DON’T KNOW WHY is an unusual and endearing look at a young person finding their identity. Eyes, ears, nose, and mouth are literally separated and must find each other to help their face win a bike race. The two ears, two eyes, nose and mouth realize they are better off together, especially now they have become friends who can help each other see, hear, and steer. In the tradition of Dr. Seuss and the wonderful, wubbulous psychedelic music of the Flaming Lips, I AM AN EYE I DON’T KNOW WHY is an original and very funny look at the togetherness of self.

The Flaming Lips perform their iconic album Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, live in its entirety at the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre on August 30, 2024. The hometown set is released as part of RSD Black Friday on 2LP, 45 rpm color vinyl, featuring new artwork by Wayne Coyne.

The Flaming Lips launched their highly anticipated Summer Freak Out!!! at the OKC Zoo Amphitheatre with an electrifying rendition of their iconic 2002 album,Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. The first night of this two-night extravaganza on August 30, 2024, saw the band diving deep into the album’s eclectic blend of psychedelia and pop, delighting fans with a complete live performance.

The Flaming Lips will celebrate 25 years of their seminal 1999 album, The Soft Bulletin, with the brand new The Soft Bulletin 25th Anniversary Vinyl out September 6. It will be available in limited-edition 2LP Vinyl with stunning Zoetrope designs notably co-created by Drew Tetz and band frontman Wayne Coyne. Plus, it boasts brand new sleeve artwork in addition to an insert with text penned by Wayne.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Soft Bulletin, the Flaming Lips were recently featured in Dig! The article delves into the creation and enduring impact of the album, highlighting the band's journey and the personal challenges they faced during its production. Recorded at Tarbox Road Studios with producer Dave Fridmann, The Soft Bulletin marked a pivotal moment for the band, showcasing a profound evolution in their sound and lyrical themes.

The Flaming Lips were recently featured in The Oklahoman, where we shared details about our upcoming free “Summer Freak Out” concerts at the OKC Zoo Amphitheatre.
